it doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you personally like the result. Who would have thought I would end up making my mark with a typewriter. When I worked in an art department, I came across a chap called Paul Smith, who had cerebal palsy and used the typewriter to make his art... stunning work. At Christmas I thought I would make some portraits for presents in his style. I haven't stopped since. It's quite exciting seeing an image appear out of text. I now look at things and wonder which typewriter symbol I would use if I were to draw it. I also use screen printing to add a little colour to my images.
